From our first BIPOC Playwrights Festival, this story from an LA playwright is a new work BCT helped develop and is now proud to present as a world premiere!

On the verge of closing the biggest deal of his life, Glenn, an investment banker for the second largest investment bank in the world, steps into an Uber in midtown Manhattan. It all takes a sharp turn as he gets deeper into conversation with Victoria, the driver who turns out to be far more interesting than the usual person who takes you from point A to point B. She’s from South America but studied in Chicago as he did. She has a doctorate in economics. She used to be someone important.

As the relationship between Glenn and Victoria grows, we learn he grew up in the projects and now has everything he ever wanted yet feels deeply unfulfilled, while she was a leader expelled from power who now lives in disgrace, with her assets frozen, her family estranged and her pride preventing her from moving on. Yet, we witness her unwavering determination to clear her name and return home. Through protagonists Glenn and Victoria, we delve into conversations about social injustice, personal sacrifice, and an unfettered love for country that supersedes morality.
