Alive After Five Concert Goers Guide (FAQs)

Alive After Five (AA5) is Boise’s longest running, free outdoor summer concert series. Going strong after 33 years, AA5 is both a tradition for long-time locals and a new found favorite for Boise new-comers. Alive After Five fills The Grove Plaza every Wednesday from 5-8pm, June through August, with a mix of nationally recognized musicians and both emerging and established local Idaho artists.
Alive After Five is an all-ages event that celebrates summer, community, and Boise’s love of live music. Grab the family or invite a co-worker and join us at five every Wednesday in the heart of downtown Boise.

YOU make Alive After Five the best free, summer concert series in Boise! While AA5 organizers are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and enjoyable experience for everyone, your behavior determines the experience you and those around you will have. Boise is a community known for its kindness, respect and generosity; help Alive After Five embody this Boise identity and keep AA5 the welcoming and fun community event it is!
1. Respect everyone- Alive After Five celebrates diversity and inclusion. Music is a shared experience that brings people from all backgrounds together and Alive After Five strives to create a community event where everyone feels welcome and a part of downtown Boise.
2. Be aware of your behavior- Be the fan that others want to be around. We love to see the crowd stomping their feet, clapping their hands and up dancing to the music, but allow fans of all ages to have a positive experience. Be cautious of pushing, shoving, inappropriateness and profanity.
3. Smoke only in approved areas- There is no smoking of any kind allowed on The Grove Plaza. Cigarette and e-Cigarette smoking is permitted outside of The Grove Plaza, near the bathrooms. Reminder: Alcohol purchased at AA5 cannot leave the main area of The Grove Plaza, so finish your beverage before you leave.
4. Photos- Take those selfies until your heart’s content! We’d love to see your experience too! Use #AA5Boise on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for a chance to be featured. Event staff may be taking photos and video during the concerts for promotional purposes and will be clearly identified.
5. Have fun!- With your help, we’ll continue to provide a unique and memorable experience for all Alive After Five fans.

Beer and Wine at AA5

A cold beverage and great music go together like Sonny and Cher. Alive After Five offers 12 different adult-beverage options and two tents serving them up at the show.
Before you jump in line though, guests 21 or older need to visit our wrist banding booths to show their ID and get their wristband; there’s no cost for your wristband. These booths can be found at the North Spoke (next to Buffalo Wild Wings) or at the South Spoke behind the stage. Wristbands are not available at the beer tents. Any person observed drinking alcoholic beverages without an AA5 wristband will have his/her drink confiscated and be subject to age verification and possible ejection or citation.
Alive After Five is a cash only event, but we provide an ATM at the concert in case you forgot to get those 20’s out beforehand. Personal alcohol brought to Alive After Five is a no-no and is subject to ejection and citation. Alcohol purchased at the concert cannot be taken off The Grove Plaza. If you need to use the restroom, leave your beverage with a buddy (21 or older, of course). AA5 alcohol vendors reserve the right to refuse beverage sales to intoxicated guests. Please enjoy responsibly and help keep Alive After Five the fun community event it is.

AA5 Goes Green!

New this year- less plastic, more environmental stewardship. Alive After Five is happy to announce that re-usable cups will now be accepted, and encouraged, at all our taps this year. Bring your 16oz metal pint glass, or better yet, show off your AA5 love and support with one of our own metal pint glasses for sale at the merch booth located in front of Lucky Fins restaurant.
We’ve also swapped out our non-alcoholic drink options in plastic bottles for a product and solution you can recycle.

Food Options

Each week, Alive Five partners with various downtown Boise restaurants to provide concert goers with some delicious food for purchase during the show.
Come downtown early to take advantage of all the happy hour options, shop in downtown’s unique boutiques, or stick around after the concert ends for dinner at one of the many fantastic downtown restaurants or hot night spots.

Boise love’s their pups! In fact, last year Boise was ranked as one of the most dog friendly cities in America. And while Alive After Five organizers all go nuts over a pup, AA5 can be a hard place for a doggo. The bricks on The Grove Plaza get very hot for little feet, and with some 4,000-plus people at each show, it can be an overwhelming experience for dogs. As much as we’d love to have your fur-babies join us each week, we suggest they just sit this one out.
If you do bring your four-legged pal, their behavior also has a big impact on the experience of others. If your pet behaves in a way that attracts the wrong kind of attention, you may be asked to take the pet home.

Bikes and Scooters

One of the best, and easiest, ways to get you and your friends down to AA5 each week is undoubtedly by bikes and e-scooters. (Can you say front row, free parking?) We have ample bike racks and parking for your wheeled transport at several entrances to the concert and a Boise GreenBike Station at the South Spoke of The Grove Plaza. Lock up your bike or leave your e-scooter at any of the four Grove Plaza entrances. If you’re just passing through (but really, why are you just passing through?) we kindly ask that you dismount and walk through the concert instead of playing Frogger through the crowd.

Tips for Charity

Not only does that beverage taste great, your generous tips do something great too! Each month AA5 partners with a local nonprofit to help behind the bars. Those hardworking folks pouring beer and making change are volunteers, and every dollar you tip them goes directly to their non-profit. Last year, AA5 attendees tipped almost $18,000! Drop those quarters and bills in the tips buckets for this season’s Tips for Charity non-profits:
June: CATCH - Charitable Assistance to the Community’s Homeless
July: Fundsy on behalf of the Peregrine Fund
August: Boise Firefighters Burnout Fund

We all know that Idaho weather can change its mind in an instant. Alive After Five shows typically occur in all weather conditions. However, no one likes standing in the rain, no matter how killer the band, so in the event of high winds or extensive rain, AA5 will move the party down the street to Liquid Laughs Lounge in Bodo. If you’re questioning it, check social media (@DowtownBoise or @AliveAfterFiveBoise on Facebook and Twitter) for weather updates.

Busking and Vending

All concert vendors are pre-approved and scheduled by Alive After Five organizers. Walkup vending and entertainment is not allowed. If you are interested in working with Alive After Five, please reach out to us directly at
