The Boise Phil celebrates Boise’s rich cultural history and connection with the Basque community in its newest Digital Stage release, The Basque Block. Interviews with local Basque leaders and traditional Oinkari dances are intertwined with Philharmonic performances featuring Basque composers including Mielotxin, Sarasate, and Ravel. The concert brings together our local community to highlight our rich cultural history. Dan Ansotegui, musician and owner of Ansots Basque Chorizos, explained, "a unique part of being a Basque-American living in Boise is carrying on the traditions that I learned from my grandparent and parents."

After the concert, audiences can dive deeper into their local history in Backstage with the Phil. Music
Director Eric Garcia sat down with Annie Gavica, Executive Director of the Basque Museum and Cultural
Center, to discuss why the Basque people came to Boise, the importance of the Cyrus Jacobs-Uberuaga
House, the uniqueness and history of Basque language, and how Boise became the only city outside of
the Basque Country to have a Basque Museum.
