The Idaho State Museum is proud to partner with JUMP and the Hispanic community to commemorate this significant event with a weekend of activities and events. Weekend events begin at JUMP on Friday, November 1st.

Join the Museum Saturday November 2nd from 10am-5pm for pan de Muerto from Campos Market, face painting, and hot chocolate. Enjoy a screening of Disney Pixar’s Coco at 10:30 AM (English with Spanish subtitles) and at 2:00 PM (Spanish with English subtitles).

All activities are included in the regular admission price of the Museum.

While visiting the Museum visitors will also be able to see a pop-up on Mariachi in Idaho and find some Dia de Muertos items in the M Store.

Visitors can participate in a processional parade from the Idaho State Museum to JUMP at 5pm Saturday November 2nd to continue the weekends events with panel discussions covering topics like Hispanic culture in Idaho and historic to contemporary observances of Dia de Muertos.

Día de Muertos is the most important tradition for Mexico and Central America (Mesoamerica) that worships death through life. November 1st is the day that commemorates all the Saints, (Todos los Santos), meaning that is dedicated to the kids or babies who are gone. November 2nd is for the Faithful Departed (Fieles Difuntos), dedicated to adults.

Come join us for this community event with an explosion of color and life-affirming joy, where revelers are invited to don makeup, enjoy live performances and film, participate in a parade, and view offerings to lost loved ones during this two-day event.
