About the Hosts:

Tasha Smagula (she/her) is a graduate student at Boise State University and has been beekeeping for 7 years. She started beekeeping during while she was studying for her bachelor of arts degree in Environmental Studies at Boise State Univeristy. The hobby started as an internship and quickly became a passion. Tasha co-founded the Boise State Bee Team, a student organization at Boise State for students to engage with beekeeping for the first time. Tasha loves beekeeping because its a fun hobby and she can give honey to all her friends and family. Tasha is also a member of the Treasure Valley Beekeepers club and wants to present on why bees are important and what hobbyist beekeeping is. When she's not beekeeping, Tasha loves to go spend time outdoors with her family, ride bicycles around town, cook, and read.

Josh Schreriter (he/him) is in his final semester of his undergrad at Boise State studying geoscience, with an emphasis in hydrology. As well as being a student, Josh is a hydrologic technician with the USDA. He began beekeeping 7 years ago, learning on the hives on the roof of the student union building at Boise State. After completing his apprenticeship certificate with the Oregon State Extension, Josh served as one of the lead beekeepers at the Foothills Learning Center, and served as the lead hive manager of the Boise State Bee Team for two years. Beekeeping is both calming and focused. Pollinators are so important and being intune with a hive is a great way learn about them, which is why he likes to teach others how to do it. When he isn't working or beekeeping, he loves to ride bikes, hang out with his dogs, and enjoy the Idaho outdoors.
