b|on Board is an annual BYP event designed to educate young professionals about board service and to provide the opportunity to get involved in our community's various organizations. Part one of this series will be held on April 13th and part-two will be held on April 20th. Each night will include a 30-minute happy hour followed by an hour of content. This event is open to both BYP members and non-members!

Night 1 Overview
Attendees will learn the essential roles and responsibilities of board service from a panel made up of a variety of individuals serving on different boards. The focus of the panel will be to get attendees, “facing the right direction”. The conversation will lay a foundation for what it means to be on various boards and committees (working, advisory, capital campaigns, etc.). It will also discuss the “why’s” of board service, explain how young professionals start the process of earning a board position, and why it’s essential for Boise’s young professionals, specifically, to be involved with non-profits throughout the Treasure Valley among other topics.

Night 2 Overview
Night Two will give attendees the chance to directly connect to those who are looking for young professionals to get involved in their organizations. Many of our participating organizations are looking to diversify their boards and committees with young professionals and fresh ideas or may even have a young professional board for newer board members to join. No matter your knowledge or comfortability level this is a great place to start building connections and opportunities. Night Two’s structure is best thought of as “speed dating”. Both BYP members and non-profit board members will be asked to prepare 3 to 5 questions to ensure a more thoughtful conversation.

After the 50 minutes of “speed dating”, there will be plenty of time to meet, mingle, and start or continue conversations. In the days following Night Two, BYP will release the contact information of the board members, so attendees can reach out directly if they are interested in continuing the conversation.

Cost for BYP members: $40

Cost for Non Members: $55
