The City of Boise alongside Capital City Development Corporation (Boise’s redevelopment agency) are working to bring a new public space to downtown Boise that recognizes and celebrates the history and cultural contributions of a diverse group of Boiseans who once called this historic area home.As part of this process, we are thrilled to introduce Cliff Garten (www.cliffgartenstudio.com) as the selected artist for the 521 W Grove St. Public Space Project! After a nation-wide call, Garten was selected by a committee of local stakeholders and approved by Mayor and Council to design an integrated public art element for the forthcoming site at the corner of Grove and 6th streets. Specializing in landscape sculpture, Garten’s work interprets the historic, architectural, and environmental characteristics of an area to create meaningful, place-based installations.
