Downtown Boise is Your Holiday Destination!

November 29th, 2024 - January 2nd, 2025

Celebrate the 2024 season with Downtown Boise’s Holidays in the City events and promotions - beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving and going through early January. The Holidays in the City campaign encompasses The Holiday Tree Lighting, Glide on Grove, Shop Small Saturday, Winter Window Walk, City Santa, and December and January First Thursday's and Groove on Grove!  

We have planned a holiday season full of engaging family-friendly activities that celebrate all that Downtown Boise has to offer. Bundle the family up grab a warm beverage at a downtown coffeeshop and come see decorated window displays and twinkling lights. Start or continue a tradition of pulling a tag off of the Holiday Tree to help support the WCA; or maybe browse local merchants to find a unique gift for that special someone.

2024 SCHEDULE OF HOLIDAY EVENTS DOWNTOWN: 
 

2024 DOWNTOWN BOISE HOLIDAY TREE

Friday, November 29 through January 2nd; The Grove Plaza

A beautiful holiday tree will be placed in The Grove Plaza, it will be lit, and will be the City’s tree, as usual. However, we can’t in good faith have thousands of people gathered on The Grove Plaza on the Friday after Thanksgiving for a tree lighting ceremony this year. Instead, make a night of it in Downtown by stopping by to see the tree, pulling a gift tag in support of the WCA, and get in on Small Business Saturday and Winter Window Walk - both kicking off that night! Glide on Grove

Friday, November 29 through January 2nd; The Grove Plaza

An all-inclusive and completely FREE activity for the entire community to enjoy.  The skate rink will encompass the City of Boise's Holiday Tree from Thanksgiving weekend through early January, creating a magical, season destination for all. Join us for the Groove on Grove closing party January 2nd!

2024 SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

Saturday, November 30, 2024; Downtown Boise

Shop small and local this holiday season! Participating businesses in Downtown Boise, which holds the largest concentration of independent businesses in the State of Idaho, will host specials, promotions, and pop-ups. Social posts are encouraged to highlight your favorite small businesses and should include #shopsmallboise.

2024 WINTER WINDOW WALK

Friday, November 29, 2024, through January 2nd, 2025; Downtown Boise

Make Downtown a destination to see the magic of the season embodied in the window displays of your favorite merchants and businesses. Bundle up, grab a warm beverage, and enjoy the holiday decor as you make your way through the welcoming streets of Downtown Boise. The windows will “officially” be lit on Friday, November 29th, 2024, #LightUpDowntownBoise

 

2024 CITY SANTA

City Santa arrives in Downtown Boise and ho-ho-ho’s his way into The Grove Plaza starting the evening of December’s First Thursday. Santa is free to visit, bring your wish list and camera or phone to grab a magical photo with the jolliest of elves. This event supports the Women’s and Children’s Alliance. Donations are welcome and appreciated.
