“I owe my love of the west…and interest in conservation to Trueblood’s writings.” –David Hayes
As a teenager, David Hayes loved camping and fishing near his Connecticut home in the 1950’s, and his interest in the natural world grew by reading Ted Trueblood’s articles in Field & Stream. Heralded as the “Dean of Outdoor Writers,” Trueblood was an award-winning author, conservationist and advocate for wilderness, scientific management of fish and game, and public lands. He started the River of No Return Wilderness Council and worked for creation of wilderness designation of the central Idaho area. As a result of his many contributions, he also helped increase interest and travel to the state of Idaho. Trueblood Memories serves as Hayes’ homage to the inspiration of Trueblood on his own conservation efforts. Sale of his paintings goes to help support the non-profit, Wildlands Defense.

The Trueblood Gallery is located at 1700 University Drive on the second floor of the Student Union Building. Admission is free to all students, staff, and community members. Parking is available for an hourly fee in metered spaces and in the Lincoln and Brady Garages.
