Nate Norton wants you to know that you are never alone, whether that's because your tribulations are seen and your experience is shared - or because you're surrounded by things that go bump when the lights go out. Nate's songs rip off the curtains and point the spotlight on it all, including what emerges from the murky depths. Dubbed "apocalyptic folk for the dark night of the soul", his music is an authentic and tenacious dive into the human condition. Fans of Sufjan Stevens, Jose Gonzalez, Iron and Wine, and Tom Waits will find themselves in familiar territory. Nate's classical-and-flamenco-inspired fingerstyle guitar is met with brassy vocals to bellow arduously crafted lyrics rife with themes of duality: anxiety and confidence, depression and rapture, mortality and permanence, longing and love. Nate is currently recording his debut album, with an anticipated release of Fall 2023.Prior to embarking on his solo career in 2023, Nate Norton spent the previous decade fronting the horn-powered soul-and-funk-infused psychedelic rock outfit Lounge on Fire. The release of 2 albums and more than 300 live performances across the western US have seasoned Nate as a musician and performer. Whereas Lounge on Fire has been a high-octane assembly that errs on the side of discord, his eponymous music tames the bedlam into serenity while still maintaining big-band energy.Nate Norton performs his songs accompanied by the singular Tempest Trio, a group consisting of Jessica Harned on violin, Lydia Montague on viola, and Jake Anderson on cello.
Jacob Westfall (Portland, OR)
Americana Tender-Rock Artist Jacob Westfall is a larger than life troubadour of love and adventure — a young veteran of the Portland music scene that has gained recognition as one of the fastest growing singer-songwriters in the Pacific Northwest; often seen onstage with a family of collaborators and musicians of his adoptive hometown community. After appearances on shows like NBC’s The Voice (S12) and ABC’s American Idol (S1) he has released two projects: A full length record "Where We Are" (2018) an EP, "Wonderful (2021), and his latest single, "To Be Loved" (2022)When performing he shares his story through genuine songwriting, powerhouse vocals, and pristine arrangements – regaling his tales of love, goodbyes, new friendships, and serial optimism through a tradition of alternative soundscapes and folk authenticity in a pop-style package with a rock & roll attitude.
Jesse Blake Rundle (Boise, ID)
Jesse Blake Rundle, an artist based in Boise, Idaho, has made a career out of creating intricate, authentic folk rock. On his latest album, Next Town’s Trees, he continues expanding musically and lyrically, with songs that reach deep into his emotional core. “I wrote these songs during a time of immense change,” he says. “I was finally leaving the church, uncovering my sexuality, starting my first relationship with a man, finding joy in sobriety and settling into my life as a musician.”The album blends folk, pop and the feel of modern classical composers. The title track, a ballad about his spiritual transformation, sets the tenor of the album. A bassline that suggests the sound of a heartbeat lays the foundation for tolling electric guitars and Rundle’s mournful vocal. “When I lived in Santa Fe, I often sat in a park near a monastery bell tower,” Rundle explains. “The ringing would only reach my bench when the wind blew it in, a sound that was almost a memory. The song, and the album, questions my evangelical upbringing and other constraints I needed to leave behind. I’m telling my story of what I’ve found on the other side.
