SECOND ANNUAL SPOONFUL NIGHT, A FUNDRAISER CONCERT FOR RADIO BOISE, RETURNS TO TREEFORT MUSIC HALL ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND WITH EILEN JEWELL, BUDDY DEVORE & THE FADED COWBOYS, THE COUNTRY CLUB, AND KEN HARRIS/HARRY DIAL/BARNEY SOUTHARD TRIO

Boise, ID

After a rousing success last year, Radio Boise’s DJ Jason Beek will be back to host the Second Annual Spoonful Night at Treefort Music Hall on Saturday, November 2nd. Doors are at 7pm and the music will begin at 8pm. The live concert event is a fundraiser for Boise’s only nonprofit and community radio station, KRBX, Radio Boise.

Spoonful, a popular radio show hosted by Beek for nearly a decade on Radio Boise, features specially curated vinyl record sets of early blues, classic country, vintage rock ’n’ roll, rockabilly, and rare gospel music.

In Fall, 2023, Beek curated the first Spoonful Night, a concert that featured local artists performing music directly inspired by the genres heard on the Spoonful radio show. This year’s event promises a rebooted and exciting representation of the nostalgic, blues, country and Americana featured on the Spoonful show

The artists:

Boise based and internationally touring artist Eilen Jewell and her band will headline the concert. Hailed as “one of America’s most intriguing, creative, and idiosyncratic voices” by American Songwriter, Jewell has crisscrossed the US, Europe, and Australia countless times, playing an endless series of headline and festival dates in addition to sharing bills with the likes of Lucinda Williams, Loretta Lynn, Mavis Staples, Wanda Jackson, George Jones, Emmylou Harris, and The Blind Boys of Alabama. Rolling Stone lauded Jewell’s “clever writing,” while NPR declared that she has a “sweet and clear voice with a killer instinct lurking beneath the shiny surface,” and The Washington Post mused that “if Neko Case, Madeleine Peyroux and Billie Holiday had a baby girl who grew up to front a rockabilly band, she’d probably sound a lot like Eilen Jewell.”

After spending 17 years as a professional cowboy throughout the western states, Buddy DeVore focused more seriously on his style of classic country and honky tonk music. In 2017, he brought together several other talented musicians from Southwest Idaho to form Buddy DeVore and the Faded Cowboys. With their energetic brand of Western Honky Tonk music, the band plays extensively at venues and festivals throughout the Mountain Northwest. Buddy DeVore and the Faded Cowboys released their 2nd studio album “To Save A Miserable Hide” in September 2024.

The Country Club is a 5 piece band from Boise, Idaho playing original and traditional music from the front lines of the nostalgia wars. While their sound is clearly drawn from the well of Western swing, honky tonk, and bluegrass, it doesn’t stop there. From the clean and pristine sound of Katrina Nicolayeff and Jonah Shue’s twin fiddles to the dark and dirty twang of Dave Manion’s guitars, the sound of the Country Club is as at home on the range or in a barn, as it is downtown, in the club or a saloon. The band is currently in the studio working on their second studio album.

Barney Southard, Harry Dial, and Ken Harris have have formed a supergroup just for Spoonful Night! Expect real Excello Blues where Chess meets the Sun! This trio of local blues superstars have played individually and collectively from Boston to Boise over the last fifty years! Expect a true vintage blues sound inspired by the likes of Muddy Waters, Slim Harpo, and Howlin’ Wolf.
