Boise's vibrancy is palpable and can be experienced throughout the city. Downtown exudes a vibrant energy with its bustling streets, active storefronts, and lively atmosphere. The streets are lined with colorful murals, flower-filled planters, and outdoor seating areas, creating a visually appealing and inviting ambiance. The following programs are a small example of placemaking efforts in Downtown Boise focused on creating vibrant, inclusive, and engaging public spaces that foster community interaction, cultural expression, and a strong sense of identity.

- Historic Streetlamp Banner Campaigns: This program is a notable initiative aimed at preserving and celebrating the city's architectural heritage that highlights downtown's historic streetlamps. The program involves the installation and maintenance of ornate, colorful banners throughout the downtown. Approval required. Learn More

- Downtown Stage Rental Program: Downtown Boise offers a stage rental program that provides a platform for various events, performances, and gatherings. Individuals, organizations, and businesses can rent the Stageline SL50 Stage within downtown for their event. Approval required. Learn More

- Downtown Plays Pop-Up Program: Downtown Plays offers a pop-up filled with various yard games such as cornhole, hula-hoops, giant Jenga, and more! Other programs provided you by Downtown Boise Association include: Flowerpot Program and Holiday Lights Program. 

  • Downtown Map & Guide: Guides are distributed to 85+ locations across Ada County to encourage visitors to explore Downtown Boise. These complimentary guides are available to event organizers, conferences, one-time visitors, conventions, etc. To request guides please contact info@downtownboise.org
  • Flowerpot Program: There are approximately 535 planters scattered across the Business Improvement District (BID). These are maintained and planted throughout the year by DBA's contractor. Planters are placed intentionally throughout the BID to provide a bit of color and liveliness, while also serving the purpose of safety and borders for high traffic areas of cars and people. 
  • Holiday Lights Program: During the holiday season downtown is decorated with the City's Holiday Tree lighting up The Grove Plaza, street lamps are wrapped with 346 lights, 13 intersections are decorated with large swag lights, and 30 wreaths are placed on Capitol Blvd.
