The Basque Places of Idaho
November 26 – December 15, 2019
In an effort to widen the connection between Boise State and local communities and to increase awareness of Basque culture, this exhibition presents the culmination of a statewide-held photo contest open to Boise State and high school students. The contest offered students the opportunity to examine their surroundings through the lens of the Basque and explore a sense of place in cultural diversity. The project’s goal achieved, these photographs engage audiences in an educational and creative way to promote better understanding and recognition of the importance of ethnic diversity. Programming and exhibition made possible because of campus and community partnerships: Etxepare Basque Institute; The Basque Market; The Basque Museum and Cultural Center; Epi’s Basque Restaurant; and Euzkaldunak Boise; and Boise State’s Idaho Film Collection; Departments of World Languages, History, and English; Global Studies; and College of Arts and Sciences.
