Details

“Haunting Beauty” explores the Lonaconing Silk Mill. The last intact silk mill in the United States, Lonaconing closed in 1957 so suddenly that everything was left in place. Machinery, wooden spools, skeins of raw silk, broken windows, abandoned personal items and faded paint draw the viewer into an eerie yet beautiful step back in time. In this show, McRae melds photographic image emulsion onto silk fabric hand-stitched with silk thread.
The opening reception for "Haunting Beauty" is scheduled for First Thursday, August 4, 5-9 PM, at Art Source Galley. View the work, explore the abandoned mill and see where its story takes you., all while enjoying music by the JB Duo, wine from Indian Creek Winery, and light snacks.
