See the work of the best high school artists in the Treasure Valley at Boise’s Art Source Gallery in March.

Students competed in several categories, including Painting and Drawing, Ceramics and Three-D Design, Photography, and Portfolio. After judging, $1000 in prizes were presented to twelve students, with Best of Show honors going to Frannie Kocemba. All of the artwork selected for the show is on view at the gallery throughout the month of March.

According to show organizer Jerry Hendershot, we are lucky in the Treasure Valley to have a commitment to arts in the schools. The parents and teachers who support the students have made a great contribution, even as other—often richer—schools in other parts of the country have cut their arts programs.

“High school art classes are not just ‘recess for big kids,’” said Hendershot; “they are an important part of the curriculum.”
