This eclectic program shows the vast possibilities of the seminal chamber form. Poulenc’s Sonata for Horn, Trumpet, and Trombone is a charming work overflowing with striking rhythms and elegant wit. Schumann’s first piano trio is a rich Romantic classic. Schumann’s then-recent study of Bach can be heard in the work’s complex textures.
